Frequently Asked Questions

A Pre Engineered Building basically refers to the method of manufacturing different components for a building, transferring them to the construction site and assembling the components to set up a building. The traditional method of setting up an industrial sector is the thing of the past. These building are most suitable alternatives to the age old conventional building structures.

PEB’s are widely used in:
  • Warehouses
  • Factories
  • Indoor Stadiums
  • Bridges
  • Gas stations
  • Aircraft Hangars
  • Schools
  • Metro Stations
  • Railway Platform Shelters
We provide complete package at your site from a single supplier as a fully finished product. This includes designing, manufacturing, and supply of PEB components like structural steel, cladding system and building accessories along with complete erection at site. It results in faster and simpler site erection for your project as it involves just bolting together the various building components as per the erection drawings provided. No site fabrication or welding is involved. MSB’s help will enable you to save construction time for you but at the same time provides superior quality compared to conventional steel construction. Our PEB’s are made of primary and secondary members. Primary Built-up Members mainly consists of:
  • Built-up "|" shaped primary structural framing members
  • Columns
  • Rafters
  • Flange Brace
These members are fabricated from high strength grade plates, which are cut to size and shape as per the specifications, which are used in making Built-up sections. Secondary Built-up Members mainly include:
  • Purlins
  • Eave Struts
  • Girts
  • Fascia Girts
  • Door Jambs
  • Window Jambs
Base Angles Cold-formed "Z" and "C" shaped secondary structural members are Cold Roll Formed light gauge, which are made as per the design requirement and consists of
  • Roof Purlin
  • Eave Struts
  • Wall Girts

Yes, PEB Systemis suitable for a range of weather conditions including snow conditions, high desert temperatures, high humidity, proximity to sea, heavy rainfall, cyclone wind speeds, seismic loads, etc. Based on ambient conditions at the site and building usage, we design and manufacture the building to the specified requirements.

We can supply the complete steel building including standard accessories. Accessories that are not manufactured by us can be supplied as buy outs (Rolled-up doors, cranes, etc.) and can be included in our scope of supply. For mezzanine floors we will provide the steel framing and steel deck. If the flooring is of pre-cast concrete panels, we will provide the floor supports beams.

The saving would be basically due to less number of column foundations due to large spans and bay spacing plus reduction in column reactions due to less dead load of steel. It is not possible to accurately quantify the cost savings as it would vary by type of project. Pre-engineered buildings utilize pierced (column) beam as a general rule, which results in lighter foundations.

IS codes are of an old vintage. Design and serviceability criteria are based on older materials and do not take into account cost saving with finding high strength materials. We recommend accepting latest International design codes as these have been used literally in millions of PEB buildings in North America and other parts of the world and have a proven record of safety. Each year in the US alone, about 2 Million tons of PEBs are sold based on International codes. Also, American codes are continually updated based on the latest research findings. Hence these codes result in a safer and more economical building. IS codes are more conservative and increase weight and cost without adding value.

The inquiry should be sent to our sales email sales@maxzimussteel.com. We will design and price each project based on the specifications provided. We will then submit a proposal offer with detailed scope of supply, price, delivery and payment terms. Proposal drawings with column reactions are provided on request.

MSB submits meticulous design calculations to the client for approval prior to fabrication of the building. All suggestions received from client on the approval drawings are incorporated by us in the final erection drawings before we proceed with the fabrication.

All field connections are bolted. There is no site welding required. This considerably reduces building erection time.

It is more economical to initially design the building incorporating future requirements like future increase in width, length, loading additional cranes, etc. This will avoid any site modification work later. However, in cases where clients require building modifications that were not previously considered, this can be done on a case-by-case basis through on-site modifications. To avoid this, consultants usually take a conservative approach and initially specify higher design loads to cover for future requirements.

We do not quote unit rates. MSB will design and price the building and sign the contract based on a fixed lump sum price.

We have a competent erection team to take care of the erection at site. Hence client need not find any erection contractor for the same. In case the customer wishes to consider the services of external party we provide detailed erection drawings, erection procedures, and technical assistance through site visits by our technical representatives during erection.

Yes, it is possible to dismantle and rebuild at a new location. The costs would have to be worked out on a case-by-case basis depending on size, complexity and distance to new location.

Yes, masonry walls can be tied to the Building Steel columns with ties for lateral support. In such cases we design the structure with low horizontal deflections to prevent cracking of masonry. Sometimes consultants will detail the masonry wall to be isolated from the steel structure which will allow for more optimization of the steel building and lower cost. When required, we can also provide beams to support masonry walls above openings etc. We will follow the requirements of the architectural drawings on any project.

We can provide angle bracing instead of rod bracing when required. At walls where rod bracing is not allowed due to access or other reasons, we will provide portal bracing as per design requirements.

Yes, we provide steel decks over steel floor framing to cast in slabs. The steel deck acts as shuttering to support the wet concrete. The slab would be reinforced and designed for the total floor loads.

We can provide insulation at roofs and walls to achieve the required temperature value. To control the temperature inside the building beyond this requires the client to provide a suitably designed HVAC system.

Fire resistance on steel structure can be achieved by enclosing the steel with a fire protection system. This can be done by spray application of fire resistance coating on steel members or enclosing the steel with gypsum board as per UL approved details. We will design the system to achieve the required fire rating.

To field stiffen an existing structural member, it is normal practice to weld cover plates, angles, web stiffeners, etc. as per design requirements. We can provide these details if required.

Maintenance is limited to periodic checking and cleaning of roof, gutters, accessories and moving parts.

We can sure PEB structure are Energy efficient in following ways:
Turbo ventilators: Turbo ventilators expels hot, humid and moisture laden air from the industrial building to give a more comfortable clean working environment replacing summer heat and winter damp with fresh air. Proper Ventilation reduces the need of industrial fans, thereby reducing power costs and increasing efficiency.
Louvers and roof vents: Louvers & Roof Vents provide natural and fresh air ventilation thereby reducing lighting and saving energy.
High SRI (solar Reflectance index): Bare galvanized light-weight aluminum roofs have a high SRI value that reduces energy consumption and urban heat island effect.
Natural sunlight with Polycarbonate sheets with 3%-5% of roof area: The polycarbonate profiled sheets used as sky light solutions are one-side embossed – they have increased diffusion of sunlight. Therefore, they reduce the need for internal lighting within the building.

Light weight: PEB’s re lighter by around 30% through efficient use of steel. Primary framing members are tapered (varying depth) built-up sections, with large depths in the areas of highest stress.
Quicker Delivery Time: 6 to 8 weeks as compared to 20 to 26 weeks in case of conventional steel buildings.
Simplicity in erection: Since the connections of the components are standard the learning curve for each subsequent project is faster.
Cost effective: per meter is 30% lower than conventional steel
Scope for Architecture Design: Outstanding Architecture Design can be achieved using standard architectural features and interface details.
No onsite welding or fabrication: As there is no need for any onsite welding or this ultimately results in speedy completion and cost effective.
